Our older student camps offer a more challenging range of activities for our more experienced campers. These camps offer a safe place where teens can be themselves and enjoy fun activities and field trips that are specifically tailored towards teens evolving interests. Surrounded by energetic and experienced counselors, teens enjoy fun times with friends while being mentored in a positive environment. Location: Gallatin Valley YMCA WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS | June 11-15 This alternative sports week will be full of fun, non-traditional sports that will get your feet moving! Each day will present a different challenge and a new sport for you to learn and master! FREE STYLE ART | June 18-22 This is not your typical art camp. We will use all sorts of nontraditional arts and crafts materials to create masterpieces of your choice. Test out your spray painting skills, tye-dye tactics and Duct Tape creations, Japanese origami, homemade lava lamps, and galaxy tye- dye are just a few unique crafts we will create. URBAN LEGENDS | June 25-29 Myths and Urban Legends about the Wild West are put to the test this week as we learn about what life was like over 100 years ago. We will learn about the pioneers through an interactive ghost tour led by the fun folks at the Extreme History Project. Y FOOD and SCIENCE CAFE | July 2-6 (no camp July 4) Food is science and science is food in this delicious camp full of culinary “experimenting”. Learn why 350 degrees is the optimum baking temperature, and why we level measurements to have our recipes come out perfect! We will take a trip to a local restaurant to learn how chefs in Bozeman perfect their craft. UNICORNS VS. DARTH VADER | July 9-13 Get ready for a week of magic and epic battles as we choose to be on the colorful or dark side! We’ll race Unicorn & Vader bots, do some galaxy tye-dying & more in this eclectic, imaginative week of camp. POWERED WRANGLERS | July 23-27 We’ve partnered with the Compassion Project to learn the importance of compassion for ourselves, others and the beautiful lands around us through explorations in mindfulness and art. Spend an energized week learning about renewable resources as we explore, create and construct solar powered cars and ovens, and wind turbine blades! It’ll be hands-on all week long! EXTREME H2O | July 16-20 Water week is back and wetter than ever! Join us for our annual trips to Last Chance Splash Water park and whitewater rafting. Activities include water balloon launchers, slip n slides, and water gun fights. Grab your bathing suits and towels and get ready to be soaked! [Teen campers are invited to stay overnight at the Helena YMCA Thursday evening after playing at the water park, where we’ll have pizza and try to get some sleep! *There is an additional $20 fee for the overnight.] VIRTUAL VOYAGE | July 30-August 3 We’ll bring some of our favorite video games to life this week through live action games like Mario Cart, Angry Birds, and Minecraft! NERF BLASTING ZOMBIE TAKEOVER | August 6-10 Another Zombie apocalypse has broken out in our community and it’ll be up to you and your fellow campers to stop it! We’ll do some target practice at Big Sky Archery and put our skills to the test as we use our Nerf Blasts to protect our friends from the takeover. THAT’S A WRAP | August 20-24 During the last week of summer camp, campers will choose their favorite activities from the summer! We will re-live all of our favorite games and activities and create some new ones! Parents are welcome to join us for the ice cream social on the last day of camp. CAMP CHILD WEEK-LONG RESIDENCE CAMP | August 12-17 Member: $375 | Non Member: $400 We’ll spend a whole week at sleep away camp! YMCA Camp Child is located just north of Helena and offers campers a traditional residential camp experience. Relax away from home, meet new friends, push yourself on the high-ropes course, swim in the lake, do some arts & crafts, roast marshmallows over a campfire & sleep out under the stars. Detailed schedule and photos of Camp Child can be found online. Pick-up and drop-off between 2-3pm at Camp Child *optional transportation to/from YMCA if needed TEEN SUMMER camps FOR STUDENTS ENTERING 5th-7th GRADE Life jacket will need to be provided by parent if child cannot swim. Arm floaties do not qualify as a life jacket. Teens should bring a water bottle and sunscreen each day and apply sunscreen prior to arriving at camp. Teens should pack a swimsuit and towel every day. All campers are swim tested. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack is provided. Camp runs 7:30am-5:30pm each day. alternate drop off at 7:45am and pick-up at 5:30pm is available at no additional charge at Play It Again Sports, (1428 N. 15th Ave). Space on bus is limited.
